Silencing the Shame

Silencing the Shame

April 09, 2019

I have been writing a lot for my book lately. It has been both incredibly challenging and easy to write all at the same time. I am finding the words are flowing, the story is coming together, and yet the pain continues to be all too real.

My book is a combination of a memoir and a self-help book. I am using my history as a way to illustrate feelings we all experience and then dive into how I was able to heal. I am currently working on a chapter called "Self-hate to love" and if I am being completely honest, this one has been incredibly challenging for me to write. Not the actual words, but realizing the depths of my history and the pain associated with it. I have been brought back there by writing about it and that is difficult to deal with. I was talking with my husband today and he was encouraging me to keep going, keep writing, and let it flow the way it is meant to. I am taking control and owning my story.

By owning and sharing our stories, we empower others to do the same. Secrecy breeds shame and I am ready to silence the shame. Speaking out about painful experiences is difficult and honestly, today I was struggling, but I will push through. Because, loves, the more we express our truth, own our past, and no longer let it have power over us...we are taking back control.

The goal with my book is to empower women to own their truth and love themselves no matter what they have gone through. I want to share a message of hope, strength, and courage. My desire is for ALL women to know they are worthy of their own love. It is time to silence the shame.
