Fast Fashion vs Slow Fashion

Fashion is the 3rd biggest contributor to overall waste and pollution in our world. Both the physical waste that is filling up our landfills (the packaging and the actual garments that are cheaply made and tossed after a handful of wears) and the exhaust from the factories are leading contributors to this statistic. Slow fashion is ethical. Slow fashion is environmentally aware. Slow fashion is our future.

Fast fashion is the “more, more, more” mentality. The wear once and toss. This is the problem.

But what is slow fashion?
Slow fashion is sustainable. Both in how it is made, what it is made out of, the longevity of the item and the versatility of wear. Think capsule wardrobe. A collection of 5 pieces that can be worn in a multitude of ways to create different outfits.  standing tall in your beliefs, and continually learning and doing better. These are my goals. This is what being a feminist means to me.

Slow fashion is a new beginning to a cleaner planet.

Slow fashion is ethical. Slow fashion is environmentally aware. Slow fashion is our future.

Time to do our part and be the change. We are shifting here at Mary Rose NW Boutique and are choosing more eco-friendly and sustainable clothing options. Coming spring of 2022 we are launching our clothing line Petals of Hope. This new line will be a capsule wardrobe that will consist of eco-friendly, sustainable and size inclusive pieces. Helping save our planet is important to us, and switching to slow fashion is a big step in the right direction.
